Crypto awaits tonight’s Biden vs. Trump TV debate — where to watch
Joe Biden and Donald Trump will debate tonight in Atlanta for a 90-minute national television broadcast. CNN’s Jake Tapper and Dana Bash will moderate the debate, which begins at 9 pm ET. There will be no live audience.
Between two scheduled commercial breaks, both men are expected to answer questions about a wide range of topics, perhaps including their stances on crypto.
Three topics are particularly salient for the first presidential debate of the 2024 election season. First, voters are interested in their views on a central bank digital currency (CBDC), which would affect the economy, the dollar itself, the Federal Reserve, and Treasury agencies like the US Mint, the IRS, or The Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC).
Second, voters want to hear about crypto regulation, including laws regarding criminal enforcement, SEC oversight, self-cUStody, mining, and coin privacy services.
Lastly, voters are curious about their stance on crypto businesses, including job creation and miners’ electrical and environmental impacts.
Both Trump and Biden have made efforts in recent weeks to appeal to crypto voters. Biden announced new stances on crypto legislative issues like FIT21 and SEC SAB-121, and his staff launched an outreach campaign with a variety of crypto companies. Trump has reversed years of anti-crypto rhetoric, suddenly claiming to be pro-bitcoin mining, pro-crypto, pro-self-cUStody, and anti-CBDC.

How to watch tonight’s Biden vs. Trump debate
In addition to appearing nationally on CNN, the debate will syndicate across apps like CNN Go and other aggregators like Roku or Google TV that support the channel. Finally, anyone can watch the debate for free with ads without a login at CNN.com. The debate will begin at 9 pm EDT (00:01:00 UTC).
Due to time constraints — Biden and Trump will only get 90 minutes to cover all topics of interest to US voters — members of the crypto community will be watching intently for even the briefest of statements.
