Microsoft (MSFT) Nears New OpenAI Deal: MSFT to Rally?

Microsoft (MSFT) is nearing a new deal with OpenAI to give it access to the latter’s technology and help OpenAI steer away from being “for-profit.” The companies have discussed new terms that would let Microsoft use OpenAI’s latest models and other technology, according to sources close to the negotiated deal. Negotiators have been meeting regularly, and an agreement could come together in a matter of weeks, according to three people with knowledge of the deal. OpenAI Chief Executive Officer Sam Altman and Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella reportedly discussed the restructuring at the Allen & Co. conference in Sun Valley, Idaho, earlier this month. No deal has been finalized, and the negotiations still face some hurdles on both sides. OpenAI and Microsoft to Reach a Compromise? The two tech giants have been at odds over maintaining an existing deal for months. Earlier this summer, rumors emerged that Microsoft and OpenAI could split. The tech giant’s partnership with the Cha...

Boosting blockchain adoption by keeping tech on the back end

Image
Builders are increasingly looking to streamline their applications with more familiar interfaces to onboard new users, Understanding the difference between the front and back end is crucial with Web3 technology. The term “front end” describes the portion of Web3 applications that consumers interact with directly. This includes the technology’s user-facing side, websites and decentralized applications (DApps).  The back end, on the other hand, refers to the complex system that supports these Web3 applications. Everything from distributed ledgers and smart contracts to consensus protocols is included here. However, accessibility and simplicity are important for the adopt ion of Web3. When the technical complexities of Web3 are too prominently featured on the front end — such as managing cryptographic keys or understanding block chain concepts — it can alienate a significant portion of potential users. It is important to make the user experience and interactions smooth and easy to under...

Indonesian government looks to NFTs to preserve cultural heritage

Image
The Deputy of Indonesia’s Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy explains how NFTs and cryptocurrency can help solve social and economic challenges within Indonesia. One of the primary benefits of Blockchain Technology is the ability to record and capture information in a permanent, tamper-proof record. Once data is on a Blockchain network, it cannot be altered, making it an ideal solution for record-keeping.  Tokenized assets, such as nonfungible tokens (NFTs), can also be placed on a blockchain. This can verify ownership while demonstrating that certain events occurred at particular times. For example, the Meta History Museum tokenized data from the war in Ukraine in May 2022, placing the information on a blockchain network to preserve records of the war. Ensuring that specific events take place is also becoming more important than ever due to the rise of artificial intelligence (AI) and its ability to generate deep fakes, along with historical images that may appear realistic. Beyond bridges: A look at the next generation of multichain communication

Image
Achieving interoperability between different layer-1 networks is crucial for the growth and adoption of blockchain technology. Achieving seamless interaction between different Layer-1 networks is critical to realizing the full potential of blockchain solutions and accelerating global adoption. However, the decentralized nature of blockchain creates complex hurdles, making it difficult to overcome silos. The lack of interoperability is hindering Blockchain Adoption because of multiple existing limitations, including: Inability to build multichain decentralized applications (DApps) — developers are limited in their ability to build DApps that can interact with multiple blockchain networks, narrowing their potential reach and functionality. Fragmentation — without interoperability, blockchain networks become more fragmented, with each network operating independently. This makes it difficult for individuals and enterprises to adopt the technology and get the most out of it. Moreover, frag...

Ethereum staking withdrawal testnet Zhejiang to go online Feb. 1

This is the first Ethereum public test since the Merge upgrade in September 2022. Developers said further testnets will be triggered in the coming week. According to a Jan. 31 post by Ethereum Foundation developer Parithosh Jayanthi, the "Zhejiang" public withdrawal test net will launch on Feb. 1 at 15:00 UTC. Six days after Zhejiang, the Shanghai and Capella testnets will also be triggered at epoch 1350. Jayanthi noted: "This is also a great opportunity for all tools to test out how they want to collect, display and use the withdrawal information. You can attempt to convert 0x00 credentials to 0x01 and set a withdrawal address. You can test partial withdrawals and full withdrawals by exiting your validator." The Shanghai upgrade, when fully implemented, will allow the withdrawal of users' staked Ether (ETH) assets and rewards. Since the success of the Ethereum Merge upgrade last September, users have been able to stake their ETH on the proof-of-stake network...

Cosmos EUR stablecoin project to unwind after 2 years

Image
"The lack of real-world applications for blockchain has led to low demand for non-USD stablecoins," e-Money wrote. According to a post on January 9, e-Money — a stablecoin project in the Cosmos ecosystem — said it would discontinue the issuance of its euro stablecoin EURR effective March 6, 2023. In explaining the decision, e-Money wrote:  "The lack of real-world applications for blockchain has led to low demand for non-USD stablecoins. The upcoming European MiCA legislation is expected to hinder the scalability of Euro-backed stablecoins and limit business opportunities in the sector. European MiCA legislation in its current form favors commercial banks as future issuers of Euro stablecoins, hurting innovation in the European Union." Until the deadline, users can redeem their EEUR by swapping their stablecoin s for digital assets such as OSMO, ATOM, or USD Coin (USDC) on Cosmos decentralized exchange Osmosis (OSMO). For amounts over 100,000 EEUR, e-Money recom...
