Ting Shen—Bloomberg/Getty Images Despite the ongoing challenges in the cryptocurrency market , enthusiasts of digital assets are convinced that the future is bright for the sector. Recently, the value of Bitcoin has shown signs of resurgence with a notable hike in its price over the past few weeks, following a difficult start to 2023. At a recent World Economic Forum (WEF) interview with CNBC, he made harsh public statements on his perspective of Bitcoin and the crypto industry. "I think all that is a waste of time, and why you guys waste any breath on it is beyond me," said Dimon in the interview on the sidelines of the WEF. Dimon. "Bitcoin itself is a hyped-up fraud. It's a pet rock." This is not the first time that Dimon has publicly shared his skepticism towards the crypto industry. In fact, he has been vocal about his views on digital a...

Bitcoin and Other Crypto Prices Pump After US Retail Sales and PPI Inflation Falls More Than Expected

Image
Bitcoin and wider crypto prices are getting a strong tailwind today after the release of the latest US economic data shows softening inflation and slowing retail sales. Bitcoin at the time of writing is priced at $21,565, up 0.9% and Ethereum is currently 0.85% higher at $1,602. The closely watched US retail sales figure fell -1.1%, greater than the -0.8% forecast by economists. Meanwhile, producer price index (PPI) inflation fell to 6.2% as against the headline figure of 6.8% that was expected. The latest economic data should strengthen the hand of doves at the Federal Reserve to slow down on interest rate rises. Data means the Fed is more likely to ease up on interest rates The poor retail sales data suggests that consumers are feeling the pinch of higher prices and are cutting back.  That would have the effect of taking some of the demand out of the economy that was threatening to send inflation spiralling even higher. Put that another way – it means ri...

Bitfarms, one of the top BTC Mining firms registered a 140% surge in the first two weeks of January followed by Marathon Digital Holdings Inc. with a 120% surge . Ushering in a new era of Web3 gaming by making Play-to-Earn sustainable

Image
With the Web3 gaming sector often employing unsustainable play-to-earn economic designs, a service economy approachable gamers to earn without having to invest. While 2021 will primarily be remembered for the explosive price appreciation seen across crypto assets and NFTs, blockchain gaming also saw a rapid expansion in user adoption and blossomed into taking up more than 50% of all activity across the blockchain industry. Most of these Web3 games employ a play-to-earn (P2E) economic design where players are rewarded for their time, efforts, and in-game accomplishments. Combining the core gameplay with economic mechanics, most P2E Web3 games rely on rewarding gamers with in-game items in the form of NFTs or with the platform’s native tokens. This model, however, has proven to be highly un sustainable in bear markets and has compelled Web3 gaming entrepreneurs to shift to a hybrid solution involving both NFTs and fungible tokens (FTs). Offering better liquidity on account of fungible...
